Toms River, NJ (September 8, 2024) – One person was killed and another seriously injured in a motorcycle crash Sunday, September 8, on the Garden State Parkway in Toms River, authorities said.
According to the preliminary information from troopers with the New Jersey State Police (NJSP), the incident took place on the southbound side of the highway, at the acceleration lane from the Exit 81 entrance ramp and close to milepost 81.7, around 1:00 p.m.
Both vehicles involved, including a motorcycle and a bike, overturned, and both victims were thrown from their bikes. The motorcyclist died while the other victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital, though the nature of those injuries was unclear at this time. All lanes of the Parkway were closed following the crash, which remains under investigation. However, no additional information has been provided in the interim, and witnesses were asked to get in touch with the NJSP as soon as possible.
