Rear-End Accidents in Pennsylvania
Rear-end vehicle collisions account for more than 20% of all motor vehicle accidents in the state of Pennsylvania. Although a lot of rear-end collisions, also known as fender benders can seem trivial when they first occur and are certainly less serious than a head-on crash, painful and debilitating injuries can still develop several days after the impact.
Some rear-end crashes are extremely violent and cause critical injuries and even fatalities, particularly if the collision involved a tractor-trailer.
These kinds of accidents can be caused by a lot of factors, like drivers who are distracted by making phone calls, texting, programming their car’s GPS system, and reaching for objects inside their vehicle. The most common causes of rear-end accidents, however, are drivers traveling at excessive speeds, backing out of parking spaces or driveways without looking, following too closely to the car in front of them, stopping suddenly for red-light cameras, and inclement weather conditions.
If you sustained significant injuries in a rear-end accident for which you were not to blame, you should not be on the hook for the damages caused by a stack of medical bills or time off of work.
In many cases, insurance providers will pay for a few essential medical treatments, but will do anything to avoid covering disabilities, long-term care, or lost income.
