Marlboro, NJ (November 30, 2024) – According to Marlboro Police Captain Stephen Levy, two people were seriously injured in a motor vehicle crash on Route 9 that occurred Thursday morning, November 28.
Per authorities, the crash took place at 5:10 a.m. on Route 9 northbound, between Union Hill Road and Route 520. A Chevy Equinox, operated by a 77-year-old woman from Staten Island, was allegedly traveling south in the northbound lane of Route 9 when police said it crashed head-on into a Subaru Impreza, driven by a 28-year-old woman from Philadelphia.
Both drivers sustained serious internal injuries and were brought to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for treatment, Levy added. There were no passengers in either vehicle, according to initial reports. The road was closed from the time of the crash until 11:00 a.m., but the crash remains under investigation by law enforcement officials. In the meantime, no further information is available as officers asked witnesses to get in touch.
Our thoughts go out to the injured victims and their families. We hope for their full recovery at this time.
Multi-Vehicle Crashes in New Jersey
Tragically, thousands of people are killed or wounded in multi-vehicle crashes throughout New Jersey yearly, even though there are more and more programs urging safe driving and efforts made by politicians, manufacturers, and traffic experts. In fact, our state’s transportation authorities reported more than 276,000 auto accidents in New Jersey in a single recent year, injuring almost 60,000 individuals as a direct consequence.
Every driver has a legal responsibility to operate their vehicle safely and avoid putting the lives of other drivers or bystanders in the area at risk or causing them harm. Unfortunately, not all drivers meet this unspoken duty. When drivers are careless on the road, they put themselves and other drivers in danger and may even cause fatal collisions. Increases in traffic accidents occur despite better car and road safety, posing a threat to all drivers.
