Glassboro, NJ (March 10, 2025) – According to New Jersey State Police, the two people killed in a crash along Route 55 in Gloucester County, New Jersey, on Sunday have been identified as a current high school student and a recent graduate.
The crash happened in the northbound lanes of Route 55 just before Exit 48 in Glassboro around 4:15 p.m. In an update on Monday, New Jersey State Police said one of the motorists was driving a Honda passenger vehicle when his car hit the left rear corner of another Honda CRV that was just ahead in the right lane.
The first Honda hit a disabled Dodge minivan that was stopped on the side of the road, and the motorist was pronounced dead at the site. Police said three juvenile passengers in the Dodge van – which overturned on impact – had minor injuries after the collision. The driver, a 36-year-old woman, was seriously hurt. A 17-year-old riding in the Honda passenger vehicle also has serious injuries from the crash, police said. However, no further details were released as an investigation remains ongoing.
We extend our deepest condolences to the deceased victim’s loved ones. Our thoughts also go out to the injured victims and their families. We hope for their full recovery at this time.
Major Vehicle Crashes in New Jersey
Tragically, thousands of people are killed or wounded in multi-vehicle crashes throughout New Jersey yearly, even though there are more and more programs urging safe driving and efforts made by politicians, manufacturers, and traffic experts. In fact, our state’s transportation authorities reported more than 276,000 auto accidents in New Jersey in a single recent year, injuring almost 60,000 individuals as a direct consequence.
Every driver has a legal responsibility to operate their vehicle safely and avoid putting the lives of other drivers or bystanders in the area at risk or causing them harm. Unfortunately, not all drivers meet this unspoken duty. When drivers are careless on the road, they put themselves and other drivers in danger and may even cause fatal collisions. Increases in traffic accidents occur despite better car and road safety, posing a threat to all drivers.
