Erie, PA (August 20, 2023) – On Sunday afternoon, August 20, a firefighter was killed when a car smashed through the investigation site of another collision involving two vehicles.
State troopers in Pennsylvania said that at about 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, they were called to the scene of a two-vehicle collision at the corner of South Brickyard Road and Route 20 in the North East area, just outside of Erie.
There has been no information on casualties from the first crash; however, a vehicle sped through the area shortly after the initial accident, hitting a first responder as they directed traffic. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The police are still looking into the circumstances of both accidents and have not provided additional details in the interim.
We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the deceased victim’s family. Our thoughts are with any injured victims in hopes of their complete recovery.
