Berkeley Heights, NJ (November 21, 2024) – A driver was charged with driving while intoxicated after police say he caused a head-on crash and injured two people on Wednesday night in Berkeley Heights.
The crash happened on Wednesday at around 7:35 p.m. on Mountain Avenue near Oak Ridge Road. Authorities say the apprehended suspect caused the accident by colliding head-on with another vehicle. Two people in the other vehicle sustained injuries and were treated by the Berkeley Heights Rescue Squad.
Officers say the man appeared to be driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested. He was later released pending mandatory court appearances in Berkeley Heights Municipal Court and Union County Superior Court. However, an investigation is still ongoing in the interim, and no further details were released.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families. We hope for their full recovery.
