Barnegat, NJ (December 17, 2024) – Several people were injured Tuesday morning when a car rear-ended another, creating a chain of crashes as people waited to turn left onto Bengal Boulevard, Barnegat police said.
It was shortly after 7:00 a.m. when the crash occurred on Barnegat Boulevard northbound between Melissa Drive and Rosehill Road, police added. A black 2011 Hyundai Elantra, driven by a 40-year-old woman and occupied by a 14-year-old boy, was heading north when it rear-ended a 2020 Acura MDX, police confirmed. That Acura, driven by a 45-year-old woman and occupied by a 15-year-old boy, then rear-ended a 2010 Ford Taurus and overturned onto its roof due to the impact, police say.
Several people involved were taken to Southern Ocean Medical Center for treatment, and one was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center. No further details have been released in connection with the incident, though an investigation remains ongoing.
