Philadelphia, PA (April 2, 2022) – Two people were killed in a fatal accident involving a motorcycle that took place just before noon on Saturday, April 2.
Philadelphia police officers say the wreck happened around 11:45 a.m. in the 6400 block of Frankford Avenue. At that time, a red Ford F250 was reportedly traveling northbound on Frankford when it collided with a motorcycle traveling westbound on Passmore Street.
When the two vehicles crashed, the 62-year-old motorcyclist was ejected onto the sidewalk. The driver of the truck then lost control as a result of the collision and struck a pedestrian sitting on a bench nearby.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, while medics transported the motorcyclist to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he later died. It’s unclear if the driver of the truck suffered injuries in the accident.
No charges have been filed at this time, and the victims have not been identified. The investigation remains active.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased victims.
Motorcycle Accidents in Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania has seen a rise in motorcycle accidents over the years. In 2020 alone, it was reported that approximately 3,398 motorcycle accidents took place, with approximately 215 lives being taken in these accidents. Because motorcyclists have no protection from harm in the event of an accident, they are likely to become seriously injured or even lose their lives in an accident. Drivers are expected to pay close attention to the roads around them so that motorcycle accidents can be prevented.
However, these accidents continue to occur every year due to the outright carelessness of others. If you and your family have lost a loved one in a motorcycle accident, you may wonder where you can turn. It is important that you speak with an attorney that you can rely on at this time.
