Mullica, NJ (February 25, 2022) – Two people were killed in a fatal house fire that took place in a home in Mullica on Sunday, February 20.
Mullica Township Police confirmed that the fire broke out in a home at 1500 Hamburg Avenue around 12 a.m. When fire crews arrived at the scene, they found that the home was completely engulfed in flames and smoke. They also discovered that three residents were able to get out of the home but two people were trapped in the basement. They attempted to rescue the residents but were unable to successfully do so.
Several responders, including paramedics, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Both of the people inside the basement, who have not yet been identified, were tragically pronounced dead due to injuries caused by the fire. A family pet was also killed in the fire.
The area was blocked off for an extended period of time. Fire crews brought the fire under control within the hour.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the fire continues.
