Philadelphia, PA (September 23, 2023) – Over the weekend, a Philadelphia police officer was killed in a motorcycle accident in Burlington County while he was off-duty.
A 47-year-old Bensalem police officer was killed at 8:50 p.m. on Saturday when the vehicle he was traveling on, a Yamaha motorcycle, collided with a Chevrolet Silverado that was turning left from Route 72 into County Road 532 from the west.
The motorcyclist also hit a Ford Escape following the Silverado. The state police have confirmed that the man died from his injuries, though the accident’s root cause has yet to be determined.
An investigation remains ongoing at this time, and witnesses were asked to contact the police
Our deepest condolences are with the deceased man’s family.
Motorcycle Crashes in Philadelphia
Motorcycle accidents consistently rank among Pennsylvania’s worst traffic collisions each year. When they happen on busy thoroughfares or highways in densely populated places like Philadelphia and its suburbs, the consequences may be catastrophic.
The death toll from motorcycle accidents is disproportionately high. Motorcycle accidents in Pennsylvania had a mortality rate up to 30 times greater than other types of vehicle incidents, according to a new study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
One of the most challenging aspects of recovering from an accident-related injury is proving the other party’s negligence. Insurance companies are notorious for doing all they can to pay out as little as possible once a claim has been filed.
The victim and their loved ones may experience feelings of helplessness and frustration after an accident as they deal with outside parties like insurance companies and mounting bills during a protracted, painful rehabilitation. If you’ve been in a motorbike accident, there may be legal recourse available to you.
If you were hurt in a motorcycle accident that wasn’t your fault, you should contact a lawyer in Stroudsburg who specializes in such cases. If you were wounded in a motorcycle accident that was the fault of another driver, Spear Greenfield Personal Injury Attorneys is here to assist.
Because they lack several of the protections found in standard automobiles, motorcycles rank high on the list of potentially dangerous modes of transportation. Moreover, motorcycle riders who are in accidents often get severe or fatal injuries.
