Philadelphia, PA (June 1, 2022) – The Philadelphia Accident Investigation Division is looking into a Sunday pedestrian accident in which a man was gravely wounded.
Around 11:30 p.m. on May 29, the crash reportedly occurred near 19th Street and Ridge Avenue. A 26-year-old man driving a 2022 Tesla was northbound on Ridge Avenue nearing 19th Street, according to police.
Police say a 21-year-old man was then attempting to cross 19th Street from the westbound side to the eastbound side when the Tesla driver struck him.
Authorities say the man sustained major head trauma as a result of the accident and was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where his condition was classified as critical.
At this time, no charges have been filed, though an active investigation is still underway.
Our sincerest thoughts go out to the injured man and his family. We are hoping for his full recovery.
